Lid love?

The only in focus picture I took during my first water-shot session at Manhattan Pier.

NEWS:
Providing insight to the rivalry between board-riders at the most popular gnarly tube in the world, The Banzai Pipeline, this video on You Tube provides an interesting food for thought:
Thoughts about Lids.
Predictably, the wave riders who choose surfboards don't generally speak highly of bodyboarders, commenting negatively about them in many cases. However, there is a bright spot for the lid riders out there: one of the surfers compliments the level of surfing of Hawaiian standout bodyboarder Jeff Hubbard, and the Australian Player brothers, Ben and Toby.
"They're having fun and I guess that's all that matters," one surfer notes.
However, the last surfer closes the clip on a different note, sending a message to bodyboarders.
"Just stay out of the way, and its all good."

PERSONAL NOTES:
The Manhattan Beach Pier was extremely fun on Saturday. I heard that it has been decent on and off the last few weeks, but I finally "scored." "Scored" means that the waves were waist high, but ridable. I took out my kneeboard as opposed to the usual bodyboard, it was a great time. I haven't seen anything bigger than that for months personally, so that counts as scoring to me. Yes, we had a significant south in the spring, but I completely missed that swell due to various commitments. Torture! Tuesday reportedly brings a head high NW swell, which I bet will hit overhead at some spots in the South Bay, beachbreaks and maybe some secret spots beyond. See you in the lineups, all.

See you at the pier.
